99-year-old woman dies in D.C. car crash
A 99-year-old woman died Tuesday several hours after the car she was riding in crashed into a tree on First Street NE, D.C. police said.
The crash occurred just after 6 p.m. in the 5200 block of First Street NE, police said. That’s where a 2001 black Toyota Camry traveling south veered off the roadway, ran onto the curb and collided with a tree, police said.
Three people in the car -- including 99-year-old Rebecca Britt, a passenger -- were taken to area hospitals in stable condition, police said. Just before 11 p.m., Britt, of the District, died of her injuries, police said.
The driver of the Camry and the other passenger have since been released from the hospital, police said.
