Bladensburg search after cop shot at

Washington Post Editors

Police in Prince George’s County have launched an extensive search of the Bladensburg-Edmonston area for two home invasion suspects, at least one of whom apparently fired at a police officer trying to stop him, authorities said.

The incident began about 11:20 a.m. Thursday morning, when a woman called 911 to report that an armed male had entered her home in the 4900 block of 56th Avenue with a weapon and demanded money, said Cpl. Erica Johnson, a spokeswoman for the Prince George’s County Police Department.

The woman, who was apparently able to run out of the house, then told dispatchers she heard shots being fired inside, but no one was hit, Johnson said.

Police issued a lookout for an SUV believed to be connected to the incident, and just after noon, an officer spotted the vehicle committing a traffic violation and tried to pull it over, police said. He did not know it to be connected to the home invasion, police said.

That's when someone in the vehicle opened fire, police said. No one was hit, but the officer had to swerve his cruiser into a fence near 34th Street and Rhode Island Avenue to avoid the gunfire, police said. He was unharmed and did not return fire, police said.

Police have called out canine units and a helicopter to search for the men, who are believed to be in their 20s, Johnson said. Police said they have recovered the vehicle believed to be involved in the incident at 30th Place and Otis Street in northeast D.C.

that's a dag on shame... These dumb people always trying to rob and steal someone else hard earned money and items... Don't they know a weapon is for punks and a real man will go out, get a real job and make his own money and buy there own items... I am truly disgusted by this email and I hope these guys get caught ASAP...You know in countries like Nigeria robbers are handled by the people and then they run to jail to avoid the people...hmmmm
