Dad charged in death of infant

Matt Zapotosky

Police in Prince George’s County have charged a Greenbelt man with first-degree murder in the death of his 3-month-old daughter last month, authorities said Tuesday.

Jonathan Jacobs, 22, is believed to have “assaulted” 3-month-old Zariyah Jacobs-Miller, police said in a news release. Police said they were first notified on the incident on Sept. 3 when authorities were called to the 6000 block of Springhill Drive for the report of an unresponsive child, and Jacobs-Miller was found dead on the scene.

Police said that an autopsy showed bruising and damage to the baby’s brain, ribs and sternum area — injuries that are generally consistent with a child that has been shaken or otherwise abused.

A woman who answered the door at the infant’s home on Springhill Drive last month declined to comment on the case.

why do you ppl here convict someone only by what you read on the Internet??? You dont have the facts. Give me a BREAK! Would hate to see your faces as a jury of my peers.
I only know this story by what i read here too, but i wont pass judgment. What if he is found not guilty and its proven the baby died of natural causes. Think before you start with he name calling. And it's mostly you white folks that jump to your own conclusions. You ppl want to be right even when you're wrong!!
Next time you are on the Metro, state what you are truly feeling when you see non-white who are out of control, instead of running home to your pc's and posting garbage. And lets see if you make it to the next stop!!!

SOMEBODY killed this baby. As for the "white folks jumping to conclusions" - how do you know it's white folks? YOU appear to be jumping to conclusions. You're the only poster who has brought up race. Why???

Hey CrimeRiddenDC, If us "white folks" are so racist then how come we're so upset about a BLACK baby being murdered? And the baby was in fact MURDERED. "Police said that an autopsy showed bruising and damage to the baby’s brain, ribs and sternum area — injuries that are generally consistent with a child that has been shaken or otherwise abused." Nothing natural about that. And I know he's black b/c I looked up Jacobs' lengthy MD arrest record in MD Judical Case Search where it lists him as AFRICAN AMERICAN. You're just a white hating baby killer supporter.

If he is found not guilty does not mean he is innocent. The innocent one is that child that suffered at the hands of someone that was supposed to care and protect the child. These things are happening a little to often for me. As a mother I cant imagine harming my child or allowing ANYONE else too. I would like to know where was the mom and is she facing any charges. The sad truth is that when this abuse happens to children the absent parent has some kind of clue. Its just sad. Now lets hope someone speaks for this innocent child and justice is served.

crimeriddendc, you should take a chill pill. I think it goes without saying when any of us say this man should be executed for this, that is if he is found to be guilty. No one is advocating executing him, and sorting out the details later. IF HE'S GUILTY then there's nothing they can do to him that would bother me.
