Woman slain in Greenbelt

Update, 6:05 p.m.: A woman in her 40s was killed Tuesday in an apartment in Greenbelt, authorities said.
Prince George's County police said initially that they were called to the 8500 block of Greenbelt Road for a reported shooting about 2:30 p.m., and arrived to find a woman lying in the hallway. Cpl. Mike Rodriguez, a Prince George's police spokesman, backed off that account later, saying that officers were called to check on the welfare of a woman, and that she was not necessarily shot.
Rodriguez said the woman was transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Updates will be provided as they become available.
