Pr. George's police arrest two in separate homicides

Prince George’s County police have arrested two men in connection with two separate slayings this month, authorities said Monday.
Jeremiah A. Sweeny, 24, of Landover was charged with first-degree murder in the April 10 killing of Robert L. Anderson, 20, of Hyattsville.
Ranufo Alejandro Vargas, 24, of Riverdale was charged with first-degree murder in the April 12 killing of Cristela Bermudez Leon, 39, of Riverdale, police said.
Both men were arrested Thursday.
Sweeny is accused of shooting Anderson in the 2100 block of East Marshall Place, though it is unclear why, police said.
Leon died of “trauma to the body” in the 6600 block of 60th Avenue, and investigators believe her slaying was the result of a family domestic dispute.
