Woman, 77, killed after Md. crash

A 77-year-old woman was killed Friday afternoon after she crashed her car into a tree in the Lusby area of Calvert County, police said.
Joan Ardell Browning, of Lusby, was traveling east on Cove Point Road near Beacon Way when she failed to negotiate a curve to the left, police said.
Her 1995 Chevrolet Caprice left the roadway and collided with a tree, police said.
Browning was flown to a hospital, where she later died. Police said a preliminary investigation showed that a medical emergency caused her to leave the roadway. Speed is not believed to be a factor.
