Memorial for Brian Betts moved to Strathmore Music Center
The public memorial service for slain D.C. principal Brian Betts has been moved from a school auditorium to the Strathmore Music Center to accommodate a large expected crowd.
The service will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda. Here are directions.
Before becoming a principal in in the District, Betts worked at A. Mario Loiederman Middle School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Montgomery County, where Strathmore is an arts partner.
"Many of us at Strathmore worked closely with Brian as he constructed the arts curriculum component of Loiederman when it re-opened as the only Arts Magnet in the county," Eliot Pfanstiehl, President and CEO of Strathmore, said in a statement. "He was enthusiastic, passionate about kids, and a full-time advocate for arts in education."
