Montgomery Village shootings lead to 19-year-old's arrest
Montgomery County detectives have arrested a 19-year-old in connection with a Wednesday night double shooting in Montgomery Village.
Richard Anthony Ortiz, of the 9300 block of Bremerton Way in Montgomery Village, was charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder and two counts of reckless endangerment, police said. He was being held Thursday in a county jail on a $2.5 million bond, police said.
Just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the 19900 block of Spur Hill Drive after a report that a man had been shot. They found a 23-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound, and also found a 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.
Both victims were take to a local trauma center with non-life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation shows that Ortiz and the victims were involved in an altercation that concluded with the two victims being shot, police said.
