Montgomery police probe deadly motorcycle, car crashes

Investigators from Montgomery County's crash reconstruction unit are examining two recent fatalities -- one involving a Ford Escort early Wednesday morning in Bethesda, the other involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle late Tuesday in Poolesville.

In Bethesda, just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, David W. Epp, of Bethesda, was driving a 1998 Ford Escort south on Bradley Boulevard, near Goldsboro Road. For unknown reasons, the Escort crossed the road and hit a utility pole, according to police. Epp was wearing his seatbelt.

Epp, 24, was taken to Suburban Hospital, where he died, police said.

At about 11 p.m. Tuesday, a man identified as Daren F. Klosterman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was riding his 2009 Harley Davidson Road Glide on Whites Ferry Road (Route 107) near Morrow Road in Poolesville, police said.

For unknown reasons, the motorcycle left the road and hit a tree in the right shoulder area, according to police. Klosterman, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigators ask anyone who may have seen either crash to call them at (301) 840-2435.
