Mother of children drowned in bathtub to speak at hearing today

Amy Castillo, the Montgomery County pediatrician whose ex-husband drowned their three children in a hotel room bathtub in 2008, is scheduled to testify in Annapolis today to support a bill that would make it easier to receive court-approved protective orders.

Here is her prepared testimony.

Before her husband killed their children, Castillo tried to get a protective order to keep him away. A judge denied her request. Maryland law requires "clear and convincing evidence" to grant protective orders. The billwould lower the bar to "preponderance of the evidence."

Efforts to apply that standard to protective orders have failed in the past in the Maryland legislature. The group Justice For Children also will argue for lowering the burden of proof.

Here is a video of Amy Castillo discussing her husband's guilty plea in October.

The legal issues involving child custody disputes and protective orders can be complicated, and difficult for judges to sort through, as was the case with the Castillo's.

While respect and honor for every living thing is my creed, I cannot condone anything useful to life coming from the mouths of the group Justice for Children(JFC). You see it took my precious daughter and in doing so, destroyed her and me. It sent her back to the Parentally Alienating home of her mother. Her mother, amazingly, was out committing three felonies while she got their free 'help'... which seems like evidence of JFC's mistake to me. JFC is a dysfunctional organization that enjoys tax free status - something we taxpayers shoulder. It patently rejects the existence and credibility of Parental Alienation, one of the most insidious forms of child and adult abuse in existence today. Just peruse the interview of one of their soldier attorneys Alene Ross Levy in a Houston Chronicle May 2, 2007 article. In it she also makes blatant sexist statements. JFC makes it own decisions about who are abusers (usually males), and then throws its materially wealthy cadre of lawyers, from such groups as Fulbright and Jaworski, Llp and Haynes and Boone Llp. JFC is insensitive to truth anf justice.

Parental alienation, developed by pro-pedophilia & misogynist Dr. Richard Gardner, is considered junk science by most major credible organizations (AMA, APA, Nat'l Council of Juvenile & Family Court Judges, etc.). Furthermore, research by Harvard's Jay Silverman finds parental alienation is used by child abusers to turn the tables on protective parents - it was used by abusers overwhelminging in his study. Research cited on Leadership Council of Child Abuse also mentions its use by abusers. It has no use in courtrooms.

Parental Alienation--Parental Alienators have ingredients, personality types ( both female and male )such as borderline personality disordered, histrionic, narcissistic, bipolar, sociopathic and psychopathic. Thus it takes no stretch of the imagination to know they exist. In my estimation and throughout my life, such disordered individuals are products of being shamed as children. I have had a lifetime of it. Both my parents had it and my sister too. It was evident at my workplace. It can be characterized to be be little other than a rather extreme need have power and conrtol. What such folks as The Leadership Council, Justice for Children, and other male haters fail to get is that sometimes they are right, as control freaks may often point the finger quickly into another direction, and sometimes they are quite wrong. JFC wants to jerk the kids everytime-permanently- (akin to what the Nazi's did) to line its own billfold and without having to do the necessary work.

Certainly this was a great trajedy for these children to lose thier lives, and not too different possibly than an Andrea Yates. Why didnt we hear from JFC then? It happened right in their own backyard. Disordered women often get the pity of society when its men who continue to be pillaged.
