Bill Wallshleger: Background documents

These documents accompany the story "After braving memories, could rape victim face attacker?", which chronicles Bill Wallshleger's continued attempts to get parole in Maryland.

He recently appeared before a parole board for the sixth time; his request was denied, and his next hearing is in 2014.

Note: The Post uses the spelling Wallshleger, as does the Parole Commission, though his name also has been spelled Wallschleger in older records.

This is a transcript of 1974 from Wallshleger's first victim. He kidnapped the woman, then 19, on Oct. 4, 1973, while she was hitch-hiking in the District, and raped her at a farm in Northern Virginia.

This is a transcript of 1974 testimony from the victim who is the main subject of this story. Wallshleger kidnapped the girl, then 16, Oct. 25, 1973, while she was hitchhiking in Montgomery County. He raped her at the same Northern Virginia farm.

On Jan. 11, after more than 37 years behind bars, Wallshleger received his sixth parole hearing in Maryland. Prosecutors in Montgomery County, who opposed his release, sent this letter to the Parole Commission.
