May 1 public memorial planned for slain principal

D.C. Public Schools will host a public memorial service to honor Brian Betts, the principal of Shaw at Garnet-Patterson school who was found shot to death in his home last week.

The event will take place May 1, at 11 a.m. in the Cardozo Senior High School auditorium at 1200 Clifton Street NW.

Additionally, Shaw at Garnet-Patterson has planned two private events at the school, one on April 22 (a "Day of Service" for students) and the second (a tribute for students, parents and staff) on April 29
