Woman bites attacker in Aspen Hill

By Dan Morse

Montgomery County police have released surveillance photos of a man they say dragged a woman into some woods in Aspen Hill and sexually assaulted her -- until she halted the attack with a bite.

The suspect received a "severe laceration" during the assault last week, said Cpl. Dan Friz, a police spokesman.

The suspect remains at large. Police released photos Wednesday hoping someone will recognize him.

The case goes back to Oct. 26, just after 11 p.m., when officers were called to the area of Connecticut Avenue and Independence Street. The 30-year-old victim told police that she was able to get away after fending off the attacker by biting him on the penis.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male with a thin build, 20 to 25 years old, 5-foot, 6-inches tall, with short black hair and a clean-shaven face. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black pants.

Time stamps on the surveillance images show they were captured about 20 minutes prior to the attack, Friz said.

Police ask anyone with information to call 240-773-5070. Those who wish to remain anonymous or be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 should call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

I'm glad the victim survived and glad she injured the attacker.

However, please remember she was still assaulted. For others, NEVER GO ANYWHERE WITH AN ATTACKER as it will not end well. Fight to the death from the beginning. Most attacks will cease quickly with immediate and aggressive resistance. Scream, bite, scratch, kick, gauge, bite again, punch and repeat. Do this immediately and relentlessly and your chances of ending the attack before they violate you significantly increase.

If they have a weapon, do you think they are more likely or less likely to use it on you in public than they are after they get you to a secluded location? The answer is they are more likely to run away than use the weapon in clear view of others. Once they isolate you, the chances of them using a weapon against you increase significantly.

If she bit into him then he's bound to surface somewhere, but if had had a weapon, she would be dead now.

This takes self defense to another level. Kudos to the victim!

I wish for two things: 1) he's caught, 2) the bite becomes infected.
