Trial in Montgomery rape set to begin
A trial is set to begin today for three men accused in the January rape of a 71-year-old woman behind a dumpster in a Silver Spring parking lot.
At least one of the defendants was still trying to reach a plea deal with prosecutors Monday morning.
The woman's high level of intoxication at the time of the incident likely will come into play during the trial. Her blood-alcohol level registered 0.322, according to charging documents.
The woman said that she did not remember the incident and that she never consented to having sex with any of the suspects.
Police described the woman as a physically helpless victim.
