Arrests made in 2 DC slayings

Two men have been charged with murder in unrelated homicides in the District that had gone unsolved for months, D.C. police announced Thursday.
In one of the cases, a 23-year-old Temple Hills man, Jason A. Harris, was found shot to death Aug. 23, 2008, in the 1300 block of Morris Road SE, police said. They said the other victim, Lonelle R. Thomas, 34, was fatally shot Nov. 12, 2007, in a home invasion in the 900 block of Whaler Place SE.
The suspects in the two cases were arrested Wednesday. Police said Kendall A. Chandler, 29, of Southeast Washington, was charged with second-degree murder in Harris’s death, and Antoine D. Mundell, 23, was charged with felony murder in Thomas’s shooting. Police said Mundell already was in custody, serving a prison term for an unrelated crime.
