D.C. woman charged in fatal 2007 beating

A 45-year-old District woman was charged with second-degree murder Wednesday after new evidence implicated her in the beating death of a 29-year-old man more than two years ago, police said.
Marlene Medley was arrested in the fatal beating of Marcelo Alvarez, who was found unconscious in the 1200 block of M Street NW on Dec. 22, 2007, police said. He died at a hospital four days later.
An autopsy concluded that he died blunt force trauma. The motive for the killing is unclear.
