Two dead in Monday D.C. shootings

Two people were killed in separate shootings Monday night in Southeast Washington, police said.
In the first incident,, James Hawkins Jr., 30, of Temple Hills, was fatally shot shortly before 10 p.m. in the 4300 block of Wheeler Road SE, police said.
A second victim in that attack, whom they did not identify, is hospitalized with a wound that is not considered life-threatening.
About 11:30 p.m., Antonio Valdez Bela, of Waldorf, was found bleeding from bullet wounds in the 4400 block of F Street SE, police said. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police said the shootings remain under investigation by homicide detectives.
