McGruff turns 30
McGruff the crime dog is celebrating his 30th birthday Thursday.
The friendly canine, who wears a tan trench coat and offers tips to "take a bite out of crime," will celebrate this evening at the National Museum of Crime and Punishment in the District, according to the Justice Department.
Laurie O. Robinson, the Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Justice Programs, is scheduled to speak. The Office of Justice Programs and the National Crime Prevention Council introduced McGruff in 1980.
