Pr. George's double shooting produces third weekend homicide victim

A man was shot and killed and another man shot and injured in what police now say was Prince George’s County’s third homicide of the weekend.

Prince George's County police have identified the man who died in Sunday's double shooting in the Temple Hills area as Lorenzo Steven Smith, Jr., 35, of Capitol Heights. The other person shot, a 33-year-old man, is expected to survive, they said.

The shooting took place shortly after 2 a.m. Monday in the 3400 block of Dallas Drive.

The incident is apparently unconnected to a killing that occurred as a result of a personal dispute in Forestville and to the death of a homeless man in the Hyattsville area. On Monday morning, police said they were investigating the latter case as a homicide.

Police have no suspects or motive in the double shooting.

It's just PG County residents pursuing their favorite past time: killing one another.

I do not think there is any surprise to this stat. The weather is getting warmer and the county with the highest minority group is starting to see a rise in murders. Come summertime, the murders in PGC will probably climb to it's highest peak in years. High density of unemployment, illegals, and criminals in PGC all are attributes to the high murder rate. It also helps to have crooked politicians and a rouge police dept.

Mr. Zapotosky,

What town is Dallas Drive in? It's not clear from your article.

Thanks.

Definitely a blip on the radar. Crime is down in PGC, even in the midst of the economic woes. Keep your prejudice thoughts and comments to yourself.

Lol - how original...snide remarks and smart arse comments about PG County residents which are full of racial undertones.

Geez - is white folks that mad that a brother is in the White House that they can't find any other way to vent?
