Stolen moving van sets off police pursuit in Md.
A man attempted a high-speed getaway Monday afternoon after assaulting a person in New Carrollton and taking a moving van loaded with the victim's possessions, police said.
The bulky truck careened along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, striking multiple cars with police in pursuit before it hit a sedan from behind.
The driver of that car, who was seriously injured, was taken to a hospital by one helicopter while another followed the suspect, who fled on foot but was apprehended in Howard County.
The chase and wreckage shut part of the parkway.
