Manassas baby injured, caretaker charged

By Josh White

A 21-year-old Manassas man was charged with attacking an infant boy on Saturday night.

Prince William County police said Christopher Luis Araya seriously hurt the boy, who is 4 months old and was in his care. The boy suffered facial and head injuries and is listed in stable condition at a Fairfax hospital.

Officer Jonathan Perok, a police spokesman, said an investigation into the nature and cause of the injuries is ongoing. Araya was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and two counts of felony child abuse, and police said he is being held in the Prince William County jail without bond.
