Prince George's rescuers search for possible victim in pond
Prince George's County rescuers say they will search a Largo pond after a report that someone may have broken through the ice.
A call came in about 9:30 a.m. from someone who spotted a hole in the ice on pond near a Metro garage at the rear of the Boulevard at Capital Center shopping center in Largo, according to Mark E. Brady, spokesman for the county Fire and Emergency Services Department. The caller said there were tracks in the snow leading up to the break.
Brady said officials confirmed the caller's account, but don't yet know if someone fell through the ice. Firefighters, paramedics and the department's Technical Rescue Team and Underwater Rescue and Recovery Team are responding.
We will update you as the search and rescue effort continues.
