Anne Arundel student indicted on murder charges after shotgun death
A grand jury has indicted a Frostburg State University student on first-degree murder and assault charges stemming from an off-campus confrontation last month.
Allegany County State's Attorney Michael Twigg says the panel returned the indictment Tuesday against 21-one-year-old Tyrone Hall of Glen Burnie.
Police say Hall claimed self-defense in the April 18 shotgun slaying of 20-year-old basketball player Brandon Carroll of Waldorf, and the wounding of 21-year-old Ellis Hartridge Jr. of Washington, D.C.
Hall told investigators the victims lunged at him after going to his off-campus apartment to discuss an alleged altercation early that night between Hall and a woman with whom Carroll had had a stormy romance.
The indictment moves the case to circuit court for trial.
