Md. man charged with sex attack

A Gaithersburg man has been charged with spraying semen on a woman as she left a Giant grocery store.

Gaithersburg police have charged Michael Wayne Edwards, Jr. of the 17000 block of Downing Street with second degree assault. Additional charges could be filed.

Police said a woman reported that she was in the Giant at 842 Muddy Branch Road when she saw a man staring at her. As she was leaving the store, the man walked closely behind her and sprayed a liquid substance onto her back.

The substance was later determined to be human semen. The man was seen getting into a gray colored vehicle and driving away.

Police said they have learned that there are other unidentified victims and are asking people who believe they were assaulted to contact Detective Corporal Word at 301-258-6400.

Edwards has been released on a $4,000 bond.
