Va. wants $10M student rape suit dismissed
The state is asking a Circuit Court judge in Fredericksburg to dismiss a $10 million lawsuit by a University of Mary Washington student who says she was raped in a school parking garage.
The lawsuit stems from an October 2008 incident in which the student said she was sexually assaulted on the Fredericksburg campus of the state university.
She contends the university had an obligation to protect her from a violent attack.
In its response, according to The Free Lance-Star, the state contends Mary Washington officials cannot be held legally liable for the attack.
