Soggy suspect gets caught
A chase for a suspect accused of breaking into a car turned into a rescue operation Friday morning after the man jumped into Rock Creek.
The man, who District police said had been spotted breaking into a vehicle in the 1200-block of 24th St. NW, ran from the scene when a witness gave chase. The man eventually jumped into the cold waters of Rock Creek near Thompson Boat Center to avoid capture, police said.
Rescuers were able to pluck the man from the creek. He was taken to the hospital and treated for possible hypothermia.
Police did not immediately identifty the man.
