Man arrested in Md. copper thefts
A 23-year-old Leonardtown man has been charged with stealing copper from local businesses, St Mary's County authorities said.
County authorities had been investigating the thefts since July and developed John M. Wood as a suspect, according to the county bureau of criminal investigations.

Police searched Wood's Point Lookout Road home on Friday.
Wood was charged with three counts of second-degree burglar and theft of more than $1,000 and less than $10,000.

I would accept this guy getting a lighter sentence if he would rat out the copper dealers who bought obviously stolen metal. If they do not feel the heat, there will always be more low-level crooks to steal copper gutters off of churches.
