D.C. police investigating Southeast man's death as homicide

UPDATE: D.C. police have identified the victim as Todd Angelo Jackson, 28, of the 1300 block of Alabama Ave. SE. The death is being investigated as a homicide, police said, but the exact cause of death is pending.

ORIGINAL POST: D.C. police are investigating a Wednesday night death in the 2800 block of 14th St. NW.

Details were sketchy, but in an e-mail to residents and community groups, Third District Commander Jacob Kishter wrote that police were called to that location to investigate a death.

The manner of death is pending further investigation and ruling by the Medical Examiner's Office, Kishter wrote.

In a separate e-mail to constituents, Councilmember Jim Graham (D-Ward 1) wrote that the death came after a "domestic confrontation" between two adult males at the Columbia Heights Village.

There were no gunshots fired or firearms involved, according to Graham.

Ms Labbé-DeBose:

You get to report all these sad, disfunctional tales. It must be depressing.

I have to drive through Columbia Heights Villages fairly frequently. I always take a deep breath and keep my fingers crossed. A lot of the actual resident there are probably ok, but their offspring and grandchildren are all creepy gangsta wannabees. They will kill somebody on the least provocation.

That housing needs to be torn down and the residents dispersed through mixed income housing in the Cathedral, Van Ness and Chevy Chase areas of the city. Let everybody in the city share the pain of the nus-holes.

A lot of the young men in urban areas want to be tough & hard. Look like a gangsta even if you're not one. Wannabes is right. They're all over the place. Loitering. You know it's just a matter of time before they're headed down the path of self-destruction. Everyone has a gun or 2 or 3) or so it seems. All trying to show how bad they are. They're not scared of jail/prison. Most of the men in their neighborhood have been in there at least once or twice. Tough guys deep fry chicken for a living & are dead before age 30. Is it a tragedy? I don't think so. The tragedy is when the smart teenager who minds his own business & wants to go to college gets caught in the middle of a gunfight with these stupid jokers & clowns.
