Lorton man charged with 2009 killing
A Lorton man has been charged with murder in the 2009 death of a man from Northwest D.C.
Police responded to the 1300 block of Fort Stevens Drive NW on Feb. 6, 2009, at around 12:30 p.m. after a report of a shooting, police said Monday. They found Joseph Barton, 40, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On Monday morning, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Lamar Smith, 36, charging him with Murder One while Armed.
