Man charged in D.C. killing

A 41-year-old man with no fixed address was charged with murder Thursday in the fatal shooting of a District man last summer, police said.

The suspect, Luel Hayes Jr., was arrested by homicide detectives about 10:30 a.m. and charged with first-degree murder in the June 10, 2009, death of 37-year-old Rahiem Moore.

Moore, who lived in Northwest Washington, was found bleeding from gunshot wounds behind a building in the 1300 block of Columbia Road NW and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. In announcing the arrest, police did not specify the alleged motive for the killing.
