Police investigate D.C. stabbing

D.C. police are investigating a Monday stabbing that killed a 36-year-old Southeast man.

Officers responded to the 1700 block of Trinidad Ave. NE at around 8:06 p.m. in response to a report of a stabbing, authorities said. They found an unconscious man suffering from what appeared to be a stab wound; he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities believe the man was stabbed in the 1200 block of Simms Place NE, a few blocks north of where he was found. Police identified the man as Jermaine Jones, of the 2000 block of Alabama Ave. NE.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 1-888-919-CRIME (1-888-919-2746). Anonymous tips can be submitted via telephone at 1-866-411-TIPS (1-866-411-8477) or by sending a text message to 50411.
