3 pedestrians struck in Pr. George's
Three pedestrians were struck and critically injured in separate incidents Wednesday evening in Prince George's County, authorities said.
In the first crash, two pedestrians were struck at County and Walker Mill roads in the District Heights area of Prince George's, authorities said.
Cpl. Larry Johnson, a county police spokesman, said the crash appeared to be a hit-and-run, and that two children were injured. He said that information came to him from a police dispatcher, and he was en route to the scene to gather more.
Mark Brady, a Prince George's fire/EMS spokesman, said paramedics reported that the victims, a man and a woman, appeared to be in their 20s.
Johnson said police are looking for a 1990 Honda Accord in connection with the crash.
In the second incident, a man in his 70s was struck by an SUV in the parking lot of a Mitchellville shopping center, county fire authorities said.
The crash occurred about the same time as the other pedestrian crash, fire officials said. In this instance, paramedics were called about 5:30 p.m. to the parking lot of Mitchellville Plaza at Central Avenue and Enterprise Road and arrived to find a man trapped under an SUV. They quickly extricated him, and he was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.
Updates will be provided as they become available.
