Man killed in Pr. George's hit-and-run

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed early Thursday on Branch Avenue in Prince George's County, police said.

The vehicle did not stop. The man, whose name was not released, died right after the 2 a.m. collision.

Cpl. Larry Johnson, a police spokesman, said a witness saw the man dressed in dark clothing and walking down the middle of Branch Avenue south of St. Barnabas Road moments before the vehicle apparently struck.

Police closed a section of Branch Avenue until just before 7 a.m. so they could gather debris, which they hoped would help them determine what type of vehicle had struck the pedestrian.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the Prince George's County police at 301-333-4000 or the anonymous Crime Solvers line at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

This department is a disgrace and is in need of some serious oversight. Cases in point:

-This story, I was told after the hit & run death on RT 5 this morning that the police left the body in the road for hours not even covered over.
-Recent arrest of officer charged with selling guns he and his unit seized off the streets
- Yesterday report that an off duty cop moonlighting at a warehouse party in Beltsville broke the tooth of a DC cops son
-The "chief" has removed the police scanner from the iphone app so that citizens cannot even monitor their calls.
-Lack of accountability to the citizens just try to even see the prior days police blotter of calls for service it isn't happening. Be transparent post it on your website everyday for the prior day.
-The fiasco that was the U of MD "riot"

The list goes on WAKE UP PG citizens and the justice department this agency is out of control

EVERY WEEK there is a report of a hit and run in the DC metro area.

What have we come to?
