Motorcyclist, 22, dies in Fairfax crash
A 22-year-old Fairfax man was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a Jeep on Tuesday night, county police said Wednesday.
Sergiu Mocanu, of the 6100 block of Lincolnia Road in the Alexandria section of the county, was headed westbound on Little River Turnpike at about 7:26 p.m., police said.
Mocanu lost control of his motorcycle and hit a Grand Cherokee driven by a 61-year-old man who was not injured, police said.
Mocanu was pronounced dead at the scene.

It's spring time with nice weather going into summer. The DC metro area is going to be inundated with these guys and their high-speed motorcycles zipping up and down the minor and major thoroughfares of the area. More will die as a result of speed, fact.

I didn't see the accident, but saw the poor young man on the ground with blood pouring out of his head. His helmet had been knocked off. There have been more accidents in that precise intersection (just past the Little River Turnpike/Beauregard intersection, in front of the diner) over the years then I can mention. Cars often try to make u-turns right in front of on-coming traffic. Something needs to be done about that are.
