Accused Va. killer pleads not guilty
A trial date has been set for a Louisa County woman charged with killing her boyfriend.
Sixty-one-year-old Ulisa M. Chavers pleaded not guilty Monday to first-degree murder and 10 counts of embezzlement. A jury trial is scheduled to start Dec. 15.
The body of Reginald Cody Bowles was found in a well on his property in Louisa in March 2009, more than two years after he disappeared. A cause of death hasn't been determined.
Chavers had pleaded guilty in October 2009 to illegally disposing of a body, credit card fraud, identity theft and possession of a sawed-off rifle. Prosecutors said she collected Bowles' Social Security checks after he disappeared.
She was sentenced to five years in prison on those charges.
