Missing boy's body found in Va.: Roanoke police

Authorities say they've found the body of a small child while searching the Smith Gap landfill for a missing Roanoke toddler.

The Roanoke Police Department says the body was sent to the medical examiner's office Wednesday to determine the child's identity and the cause of his death.

Tuesday would have been Aveion Mark Lewis's 3rd birthday.

The boy's stepfather, 24-year-old Brandon Lockett, has been charged with felony child neglect, improper disposal of a human body and obstruction of justice.

Lockett told authorities that three men abducted the boy from the family's home Jan. 14. Police say there was no abduction and they believe the child was dead before authorities received a 911 call.
