Va. abduction suspect back in state
A man accused of abducting a 12-year-old girl and taking her to California has returned to Virginia to face charges.
Media outlets report that 32-year-old Jeffrey Easley arrived in Roanoke with two Roanoke County detectives Wednesday night.
Easley is being held at the Roanoke County-Salem Jail without bail. He's scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon on charges of abducting 12-year-old Brittany Smith and credit card fraud.
The girl was with Easley when police arrested him last Friday outside a San Francisco supermarket. They hadn't been seen Dec. 3.
Authorities found the girl's mother and Easley's girlfriend, Tina Smith, dead Nov. 29 inside their home. Police consider her death a homicide.
