Deadly Va. prison accident: Report
A Virginia Department of Corrections spokesman says a female prison inmate has died after a piece of laundry equipment fell on her.
The Times-Dispatch reports 43-year-old Amy T. Madsen was killed in Wednesday's accident at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women in Goochland.
Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor says workers were repairing commercial laundry equipment and Madsen became trapped when a piece of equipment fell. Madsen was pronounced dead at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond.
Traylor says the accident remains under investigation.
Madsen was serving a 21 years for attempted capital murder, robbery, burglary and traffic offenses in Chesapeake and Portsmouth.
