Ex-Va. teacher admits sex with teen
A former Winchester teacher has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old female student.
Adrian A. Ellis of Waynesboro pleaded guilty Tuesday to four felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a child while serving in a custodial role. He also pleaded guilty to providing alcohol to a minor, a misdemeanor.
Winchester Circuit Court Judge John Wetsel Jr. sentenced the 30-year-old Ellis to four years on each felony and a year on the misdemeanor. Wetsel suspended all but five months of the felony terms and six months of the misdemeanor term. The sentences are concurrent.
Prosecutors say the victim was one of Ellis' students. He taught art and photography at John Handley High School from 2008 until his arrest in March.

The ex-teacher deserves serious punishment but I hope it is proportionate to the crime. That is, in comparison to the guy in Maryland who was pimping out a 12 year old - the sentence should be lighter.

Thank goodness this ex-teacher will serve only a fraction of his original sentence. He will then be young enough to "start over."
