Jail for pair in Va. pot case

Two defendants have been sentenced to prison terms on conspiracy charges involving more than 700 pounds of marijuana seized in Virginia Beach and Nashville.

Ashlee Gina Bunn was sentenced Monday in Norfolk federal court to nine years in prison, while Antonio Allen Anderson was ordered to serve one year and three months.

The 29-year-old Virginia defendants entered guilty pleas in May.

According to court documents, Bunn transported 200 pounds of marijuana from Tennessee to Virginia Beach for distribution. She recruited Anderson to move the drug locally.

Prosecutors said Bunn also attempted to move 500 pounds of marijuana from a rental home in Tennessee.

Bunn faces trial in that state with her alleged coconspirator.

9 years in prison for transporting what is going to be basically legal in our nation's capital next year - what a waste of taxpayer money and legal resources.

Crack/Cocaine distribution and transportation? Bring on the long prison terms. Weed? Come on. This is a drug that is less deadly than alcohol. Our drug laws need to change. Why are we treating Weed on the same level as cocaine?

6thsense79 wrote, Why are we treating weed on the same level as cocaine? One word answer: republicans. They were kicking in doors and arresting terminally ill people for possessing small amounts for medicinal purposes. Depite the fact that 81% of Americans approve of weed for medical purposes, the dark ages hillbillies still want to save us from the devil's dust. but if you want to drink a gallon of whiskey or vodka, that's perfectly okay. the reason is the busybody party who want to make personal decisions for everyone else, since everyone else is making personal decisions they don't agree with. the republicans want less government when it comes to helpig the poor and middle class. but they want to run and control the poor and middle class's lives. pathetic that America lets them get away with it.

Arrested for a plant...

This is a completely backwards policy towards a perfectly safe, fun and naturally growing plant.

Let my people go.
