Life for Va. man in double killing

A Newport News man has pleaded guilty to the stabbing deaths of his fiancee and her mother in order to avoid a possible death sentence.

The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reports that 38-year-old David Wayne Hoshaw Jr. pleaded guilty Tuesday in Norfolk Circuit Court to killing Angelique Goyena and her mother, Vonda Goyena, in 2007.

Judge Charles Poston sentenced Hoshaw to life in prison. There is no parole in Virginia.

After killing 35-year-old Angelique and 74-year-old Vonda, Hoshaw fled Virginia. He was arrested in June 2009 in a Michigan trailer park.

A three-week trial was scheduled to begin next week.
