No indictment in deadly Va. wreck

By The Roanoke Times

A Franklin County grand jury has refused to indict an SUV driver involved in a wreck that killed two Rocky Mount firefighters.

Franklin County Commonwealth's Attorney Cliff Hapgood told The Roanoke Times that the case could be taken to another grand jury if more evidence is found.

Rocky Mount Fire Chief Posey Dillon and firefighter Danny Altice were killed last July as they were responding to a call. State police have said their fire truck was hit by an SUV, flipped three times and landed on top of a car.

Prosecutors had sought vehicular manslaughter and other charges against the SUV's driver.
