Parents of dead boy found in Va. landfill face murder charges
The parents of a 2-year-old Roanoke boy whose body was found in a landfill are facing murder charges.
A grand jury indicted 24-year-old Brandon Lockett and 23-year-old Morgan Lockett on Monday. Each is charged with second-degree murder, child neglect and cruelty.
Searchers found the body of Aveion Malik Lewis in the Smith Gap Landfill on Jan. 27, about two weeks after he was reported missing.
Brandon Lockett, the boy's stepfather, told authorities that three men abducted the child from the family's home. Police say there was no abduction.
The cause of the boy's death hasn't been released.
The Locketts are being held at the Roanoke City Jail. A jail officer said he did not know if either has a lawyer.

There are photos of Morgan and Brandon Lockett in the Roanoke Times. No surprises there.
