Police task force to review photo, video of violent Va. college party
Photographs and video of a violence-marred block party near James Madison University will be reviewed by a police task force.
Harrisonburg Police Department spokeswoman Mary-Hope Vass says the goal is to identify people who committed crimes during the April 10 disturbance at Springfest.
Officers used pepper spray and tear gas to disperse a crowd of about 8,000 people. Fights broke out and some partygoers threw bottles and rocks at officers. More than 30 people were arrested.
Vass says the task force will review video shot by police and images and video posted on various Web sites.
It's not clear whether unpublished images taken by the James Madison student newspaper's photographers will be included in the review.
