Va. safety plans to be announced
Virginia Secretary of Public Safety Marla Decker is expected to announce efforts to decrease violent crime, fight gangs and help prisoners re-enter society.
The announcement will be made during Decker's first briefing with reporters Thursday.
Decker is expected to release the results of a coordinated law enforcement effort between local and state authorities that took place recently in Richmond.
She also is expected to announce the formulation of a committee to fight gangs and violent crime statewide.
Decker also will discuss plans for prisoner re-entry and a new juvenile mentoring program.
