Va. Tech families create nonprofit
The families of the victims and survivors of the April 2007 mass killings at Virginia Tech have created a nonprofit.
The Virginia Tech Victims Family Outreach Foundation Inc. will provide support to Tech families and survivors and reach out to other families who experience similar losses.
The Roanoke Times reported Wednesday the foundation was created with $1.75 million drawn from an $11 million settlement with the state.
The foundation’s first board meeting is scheduled for October in Centreville.
A lone student killed 32 students and faculty on April 16, 2007, before killing himself. It was the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
