Wilbon Loves the Wizards, and Everyone Loves Wilbon
It's springtime, and respect bordering on adoration is in the air.
Mike Wilbon praised the Wizards on Tuesday for "hanging in there," and laid out his game plan for the remainder of the season: If doctors okay him playing, Gilbert Arenas comes off the bench.
The crowd ate it up:

wizfan89 wrote: Excellent piece Mike and continued best wishes on your recovery from your recent heart issue. Agree that bringing Gilbert off the bench would be the best way of incorporating him back into the team.
ivyleague wrote: Great article Wilbon. I am glad that despite the "Arenas" drama, that someone is able to see what this Wiz team has accomplished. ... I like you and watch you on PTI daily and I as I am sure the Wizards players do also, appreciate this column and giving them their due. Great article.
Are you feeling the love yet? Group hug? Kumbaya? High five?
burnsrb wrote: Great article Mike! Nobody thinks Gil will be Gil in the last couple of weeks in the seaon (if he even does return). But that doesn't mean he can't contribute to the cause. Being injured is very tough mentallly and a part of me thinks Arenas is hiding that from the media.
Not anymore, he's not. Paging Dr. Phil!
cbellamy1: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I have all the respect for Gilbert and everyone knows how good he is, but right now the Wizards are playing great ball. No sense in killing the chemistry.
Speaking of killing the chemistry:
TheSquire: Yes, congratulations to the Wizards, who have gone from gawd-awful in the 80's and 90's to mediocre in the 00's. At this rate, they should be in the Finals by the 20's.
minboden wrote: I will reserve heaping praise on the Wizards until after this western road trip. This team has gotten my false hopes up a number of times only to come crashing down to earth. If we are celebrating improvement I AGREE but the true praise should come when they can win over 50 games in a season and become more than mediocre.
Keedrowe: minboden put it best. The wizards are like jeckel and hyde. They get not praise from me until they get past the first round of the playoffs.
Playoffs?! (Sick of the Jim Mora clip, so here's two cute kids saying it)
odog422: Sounds good...and may even work for a while. But no way is Arenas going to finish out the season and the playoffs as a 6th man. He won't accept it. Would Jordan even be able to make it stick? Above all, would Pollin sign off on it with the money he is paying Arenas? Just a tough situation.
Sounds reasonable. Too reasonable. I got nothin'. Anyone?

Here's some non-love to think about:
--Wilbon could care less about the Wizards, the NBA team of this area, unless its the right time of year for him to care about them. Even then, he phones it in. Why should I take stock in some column from a guy who really doesn't pay attention to this team, doesn't go to any of the games, and doesn't speak to the players.
--For the past few seasons, as soon as Wilbon decides the Wizards are worthy enough to write a column about, the Wizards immediately tank for the next few games following. Maybe Wilbon contributes to the curse of Les Boullez
--I'm tired of people kissing Wilbon's butt. He really doesn't belong at this paper anymore. He's clearly shown that he's too busy with other endeavors to write a quality, well-researched, non-predictable column.

A lot of people still resent Wilbon for his insensitive comments over the Sean Taylor tragedy. To me knowledge, he still stands by what he said..
