Jumping Ship Already?
It's a terrible day out, isn't it? I'd like to use this public forum to announce my strong disdain for I-495. Bumper-to-bumper traffic on the beltway in the rain is miserable. Absolutely miserable.
And hey, speaking of miserable, Nats fans are finding it difficult to cope after Sunday's "Comedy of Errors," a 6-1 loss to the Marlins:
BoteMan: These past two games were painful to watch. Equating the Nats' play with Little League is insulting to talented Little Leaguers everywhere. For shame!
Poopy_McPoop: So, how 'bout them O's? Rooms filling up on the bandwagon. Better hop on now.
Do what you wish, but I do not recommend leaving your young, mediocre (but perhaps promising) team for a historically mediocre (slightly better than usual) team. It's a lateral move.
mm_silverspring: Uhhhhhh, Let's Go CAPS?
Good call.
If fans aren't slowly backing away and pretending they never bought that baseball cap with the curly 'W' on it, they're using the oldest excuse in the book:
dand187: It's just APRIL! They've also (yet again) played more games on the road than any other team in baseball at the beginning of the season. This team is better than they're playing.
It's really quite bizarre that I'm about to quote Charles Barkley twice in one week, but to quote Charles Barkley twice in one week, "I hate it when people say, 'We're better than our record.' No, you're not!" He said that on Monday Night Football last year, and it's true; don't you think?
Finally, a rant:
Elephant-in-the-Hood: I'd like to think that maybe Stan Kasten, Jim Bowden or the Lerners might be reading some of these posts and would take appropriate action but it's becoming increasingly clear that the Lerners just don't give a damn. They've jacked ticket prices and concession prices and appear to be only interested in maximizing their bottom line by fielding the absolutely most mediocre, albeit cheapest roster possible!
Do the Lerners "give a damn?" You'd like to think so, though they likely aren't spending their mornings/afternoons sorting through comments on washingtonpost.com. (What kind of loser does that?)
I think readers deserve to have their voices heard in a more public place, and while this blog is as private a public place as any, I'd like to offer up some free space.
If you'd like to rant about the Lerners, Dan Snyder, Ted Leonsis (though I can't imagine why anyone would rant about a guy with such a friendly-looking cartoon version of himself), or anything else sports-related, send me an email (crowdnoise at wpni dot com) and I'll be happy to put it out there for public consumption (as long as it's coherent and relevant).
And to anyone traveling home on I-495 tonight, may the force/schwartz be with you.

Hey, all doubters: Caps 4, Flyers 2. Game seven tomorrow at Verizon Center. Care to guess who's going to win?

@Powerboater
You are soooo five years ago! LETS GO CAPS.
Lindsey
The NATS are as good/bad as their record at the end of season. I still say 79-83 wins (though the 83 part is looking doubtful).

Why does Leonsis always get a pass by the media? His teams are terrible, he blamed the fans for low attendance after the playoff loss to Carolina, he has attacked a fan, AOL scked. Oh did the Caps make the playoffs? Finally, in a league where more than half the teams qualify and the Caps had the easiest schedule.
(Why would anyone e-mail you when there is a comments box in every post?)
