Meet Nationals Journal frequenter NatsNut:
Real name (optional): Anonymity is too much fun.
Location: D.C.
Occupation: The Government

NatsNut, hiding from the government.
If you had to always use your real name, would you still comment?
I'd still comment but maybe not as freely. There's freedom in anonymity. But anonymity makes people mean, too. Thankfully there are a few NJ-ers who know me and keep me honest.
How long have you been coming to the Nats Journal and how often do you read it/comment?
I started reading from day 1, 2007. I refresh and comment at work WAY more than is healthy. That's why I need to stay somewhat anonymous. I could get fired.
How do we know if it's NatsNut or an imposter?
"LOL!! You CRACK ME UP." (There are some funny commenters on NJ).
Have you met anyone through the blog in person?
Yes, there was a tailgate at RFK and a little meeting at Nats Park so I've met a few commenters: natsfan1a, 506 (Before Moving), i hate walks, flynnie, Hendo, Wigi, JennX, Juan-John, Scott in Shaw, Bob L. Head, Los Doce Ocho, BIM, SC Nats Fan, and a couple others. All very cool, funny people.
What other blogs (on washingtonpost.com or elsewhere) do you read?
Please. I waste enough time on Nationals Journal. Any more and I'd be toast.
Do you have your own blog?
Nah. Too much work. I prefer the life of a parasite blogger, feeding off the hard work of others. I did buy the domain, natsnut.com though, just in case.
Have you ever fought any epic comment battles?
Yea, there were some nasty exchanges with 419 + 1. I didn't mean for him to storm off the blog in a huff but we think he still posts under another moniker, so he's fine. I've argued pretty heatedly with others about Elijah Dukes and hitting coach Lenny Harris. We get testy when we lose or if Barry, and now Chico, doesn't feed us enough.
How long have you been a fan of the Nats?
I rode the fence until the first day they played the Braves at RFK, April 20, 2005. I was sort of a Braves fan by default but hadn't lived in Atlanta for years. But that day I could not bring myself to cheer for the Braves. I was just too happy about baseball in a town I had already fallen in love with. And don't even think about giving me crap about being a "true" Nats fan. I challenge anyone to love the team as much as I do.
What other teams do you root for?
I support all DC teams, but I can't really afford to love them like I do the Nats. Baseball's off-season is short. I have to do laundry sometime.
CHrIs LaRry's question: What would be your fantasy job related to the [Nats]?
I'm not 100% sure I'd want to work for the Nats. I think it would take some of the magic away. I do have another dream/wish/fantasy, however. I would LOVE to stand in the batter's box and have a major league pitcher throw me a couple of real, honest-to-goodness major league fastballs. It's easy to yaw away on the blog about this or that player sucking, but I think standing there watching a real pitch scream by would probably shut me up.
Sombrero Guy's question: Favorite (non-current) [Nationals] player of all time?
Brian Schneider. He was my first real love and my heart broke when he was traded to the Mets.
Ask and answer another question to add to this interview.
How did you come up with your moniker? I had tried on various monikers for size but NatsNut came in an epiphany on one of those freezing, losing, miserable April games at RFK with my season ticket buddies. It was miserable, but we were still happy, which was, you know, nuts.
