This sign is asking me to break the law
Who's responsible: District Department of Transportation
When heading north in the Third Street tunnel, the sign telling drivers the Massachusetts Avenue exit is coming up needs to come sooner, or there needs to be a second sign. By the time the current sign is in view, there is already a double-solid line, leaving drivers to either break the law to get to the right lane or miss the exit.
District Department of Transportation Spokesman John Lisle said DDOT officials will look into the signage issue. The department has an internal sign shop, which would construct a new sign if it is deemed necessary. Signs cost "hundreds" to create and Lisle said DDOT would also have to find a suitable place to post a second sign if officials think it will be needed.
